The heart chakra - the wellspring of love, warmth, compassion, and joy is located in the center of the chest at the heart level. Anahata moves love through your life. It is the center of your deep bonds with other beings, your sense of caring and compassion, your feelings of self-love, altruism, generosity, kindness, and respect. Anahata is an integrating and unifying chakra - bringing to wholeness - as such, it is your healing center. Indeed, most spiritual traditions recognize love as the ultimate healing force. Others can feel your love and warmth. They feel loved and accepted unconditionally. People feel at peace around you, as there is no judgment coming from you. When anahata is open and energy is flowing freely, you are not only loving to others, you are also loving to yourself. You know when you need to say no and when you need care and self-nurturing. All of the seven chakras are important and while I cannot say that the heart chakra is the most important, I do want to say that it is very important. Most of the world's spiritual traditions recognize love as the unifying force, the energy that is the most fundamental part of the universe, and of ourselves. The energy of anahata allows us to recognize that we are part of something larger, that we are interconnected within an intricate web of relationships extending through life and the universe. Anahata allows us to recognize and get in touch with the sacred and fundamental truth that runs through all of life and connects everything together. The "way of the heart" or the "path of the heart" is living your life from this energy center of love. It means living your life with loving kindness and compassion towards others. It means that your heart is open to others and you inspire kindness and compassion in others. The color of this charka is Green (higher energy frequencies can turn to pink) and the element is Air. The location of this chakra is at the center of the chest, between the breasts. It’s slightly to the left of the actual organ of the heart. That’s why it’s often referred to as the “heart chakra”. As the fourth energy center, it’s important to remember that it is multidimensional and is energetically represented with a front going through the center of the chest, and a back going through the spine between the shoulder blades. Because of its location, the heart chakra is associated to the cardiac system and the lungs.  These organs are interdependent and rely on air and breathing to function properly. The gland associated with the heart chakra is the thymus, which is in charge of regulating the immune system. The most common Sanskrit name for the heart chakra is “Anahata“, which means “unstruck.” The body parts associated with this charka are the Lungs, Heart, Bronchia, Hands, Respiratory, Hypertensions, Muscles, and Chest. The heart chakra is a bridge to earthly and deepest spiritual aspirations. The key meanings and functions which are associated with the heart chakra involve your love for your self and for others. This is the chakra that governs how you relate to individuals and how you handle relationships. The heart chakra gives empathy and empathy, and it's responsible for your capacity to forgive and accept. It is also the chakra involved with changes and transformations. With the heart chakra, you have the ability to grieve properly and achieve peace and tranquility. You are able to remain compassionate and attain complete discernment. It's the center of your awareness and the integration of your insights, especially when enhanced from the April Birthstone. When the heart chakra is free and unblocked, you will feel deeply connected, and you'll encounter a harmonious exchange of energies with all that is around you. However, whenever there's something blocking your heart , you may experience difficulties in the way you connect to other people. You may encounter excessive jealousy and codependency. You'll also become withdrawn and closed off.

Meanwhile, when the heart chakra becomes overactive it can lack wisdom and discernment in relationships. When it goes on an overdrive, it can obscure the boundaries between yourself and other people, causing you to lose your identity and abusing the power of love. In addition, people with an overactive heart chakra tend to be ruled by their emotions. They can have difficulty in letting go or managing the pain in the past. They also like to indiscriminate when offering love and causes no boundaries in both romantic and platonic love. They also have the tendency to tolerate others too much to the point that they neglect their own desires and needs. Also, you will be able to accept other people in life without choosing meticulously and losing yourself in the process. There is also a risk of giving too much and saying yes to everyone without any benefit to you.  It causes co-dependency and manifesting physically as circulation and heart problems such as heart attacks, heart palpitations, and high blood pressure.

When you've opened your heart chakra, you will gain in a massive selection of means. By opening your heart , you'll immediately raise your self esteem on your own. You may even allow someone and love to step in your own life, and above all, you'll acquire a positive outlook on life. Your chakras are rich, deep, complex and many layered energy systems that hold the history of your life experience.  They are constantly interacting with and impacted by the world around you.  As you go through life, each experience affects your energy and health.  A healthy chakra processes and digests these experiences, enabling healthy growth.  Experiences, such as conflicts or traumatic events that are not processed and digested lead to imbalances (i.e. become over or under active), blockages, damage and dysfunction in the affected chakra(s). The Heart Chakra reflects your ability to love and connect with self and others, as well as your ability to accept and feel compassion for self and others.  It governs your ability to enjoy life and resolve challenges. The heart is the vessel through which we digest and transmute life experience, enabling you to meet and embrace the ups and downs of life.  Through this process, your experience becomes knowledge, wisdom, peace, forgiveness and release.  Your Heart brings you the experience beauty, joy, oneness, love, grief, passion and pain.  The Heart Chakra is also your Soul Force Center – the point where the energy of your soul enters your body.  This is the place of deep/soul-level seeing and knowing.
